Frequently asked questions
Everything else you might want to know.
How does ReleaseCast read my git log?
Paste any raw git log, a commit range, or a PR diff. ReleaseCast parses conventional commit messages and groups them by category — Features, Fixes, Breaking, and more. You can also paste free-form commit messages.
Do I need to use conventional commits?
No. Conventional commits (feat:, fix:, etc.) are recognized automatically, but ReleaseCast also reads plain-English commit messages and PR titles. The cleaner your commits, the cleaner the output.
What formats can I export to?
Every changelog can be exported as Markdown, HTML, or a ready-to-publish 'What's New' page. Pro plans add a hosted page with RSS so users can subscribe to your releases.
Can I keep changelogs private?
Yes. Free changelogs are public. Pro and Lifetime Dev plans support private changelogs for internal release notes that never leave your team.
Is there a limit on the free plan?
The free plan includes 10 changelogs per month with public visibility and Markdown / HTML export. It's enough to try it on a real release cycle before upgrading.
What's the difference between Pro and Lifetime Dev?
Pro is $9/month and includes everything. Lifetime Dev is a one-time $49 payment for solo developers who prefer not to subscribe — same features, forever.
